Besides the record, one big difference between the 2013-14 Central women’s basketball team and last year’s squad is their mindset. More than half of Central’s 15 losses last year were determined by more than 15 points, while the Dutch have only lost one game by that margin: a 16-point loss to a Top 25-ranked Fairleigh Dickinson down in Puerto Rico. In both Iowa Conference contests this past week, Central faced double-digit deficits at some point in the second half, only to come back and take a lead. Though they did lose by one to Dubuque on Saturday, Coach Chelsea Petersen says her women are believing what the coaches are preaching, and maybe more importantly, are believing in themselves. Central is next in action this Wednesday at Wartburg.
