The National Weather Service reports that a weak upper level system will skirt across Missouri and far southern Iowa today bringing light snow to south central Iowa with very light snow amounts expected. A second, stronger system will impact the area tonight into Saturday. This system will bring light to moderate accumulations of snow to much of central and southern Iowa through Saturday, as the snowfall intensifies across southern Iowa and spreads northward tonight. The snow is expected to taper off from west to east by late Saturday morning into the afternoon hours. Colder air will move into the state for Sunday into Monday before another storm system is set to bring accumulating snowfall to much of the area Monday night through Tuesday night.
