They are a team comprised of just four seniors, three of whom see significant playing time. The Central women’s basketball team are currently 8 – 3 on the season, thanks to the play of several younger members on the squad. The five freshmen that have seen varsity action are averaging just over 11 points per game, the two sophomores average 12.6 and the juniors lead the way with just under 30 a game. Coach Chelsea Petersen says that their loss against Augustana was a good prep for their conference schedule as they were able to allow some of their younger athletes to see more playing time. Central’s women are picked to finish last in the Iowa Conference, and they’ll begin that portion of their journey this Wednesday at home against Luther.
