It was another lackluster offensive night for the Central women’s basketball team on Saturday, losing to Coe 62 – 47. Not only did the Dutch have problems scoring, but they also were out-rebounded 34 – 23. Kenzie Vander Molen scored a game-high 16 for Central, who have dropped nine straight and are 9 – 12 overall with a mark of 1 – 9 in league play. Central’s men had just a six point lead at the half, but led by double-digits for a majority of the final 20 minutes to coast to a 71 – 54 victory over the Kohawks. Despite turning the ball over 13 times in the first half, the Dutch were able to settle down and execute better to finish the ball game and shot 50% from the field. Colby Taylor and Matt Greenfield each had double-double efforts; Taylor had a game-high 21 points and ten rebounds, and Greenfield continued his torrid run with 19 points and 12 boards. Central’s men surge to 15 – 6 and 8 – 2 in the league. They are back at home this Wednesday for a big doubleheader with Buena Vista.
