The Pella Christian boys’ basketball team gave Grinnell a run for their money Friday night on the road but fell 61 – 56. Offensively, Pella Christian was led by junior Jason Holwerda who tallied 13 points off the bench. The road loss drops the Eagles to 8-13, but Monday night their opponents will become arguably easier as they get to face 2A competition. First up will be Cardinal of Eldon with the game played in Albia. The Pella Christian Girls also fell to the Tigers in Grinnell Friday night, 53 – 34. The Eagles will only have 24 hours to prepare for their first round opponent, Colfax-Mingo, but Head Coach Kevin Van Maanen feels good about their chances in the playoffs. The Eagles first round matchup can be heard tonight on 92.1 KRLS with pregame at 6:30 p.m. and tipoff scheduled for seven.
