FORUM

Approximately 25 people attended the forum held by Senator Amy Sinclair and Representative Greg Heartsill in Knoxville on Friday. Both discussed school funding through state supplemental aid – what used to be known as allowable growth – and addressed concerns that Iowa’s ranking is dropping in per pupil funding. Heartsill discussed public safety, and said in the statehouse last week, and there is concern that we are down 100 state troopers in Iowa’s force, and he said there is legislation underway for small townships to be in control of their own public safety warning systems, in response to a request made by Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson. Sinclair brought up the need for resolution to the issue with the Toledo Juvenile Home and she discussed incentives to bring veterans to Iowa.
