Improvements to the Molengracht Plaza were discussed at the end of the city council meeting earlier this week. A group has approached the Community Services Department about replacing dead and dying trees along the canal, as well as damaged lamp posts. Private funding would take care of the upfront replacement costs, and the city has worked with Country Landscapes from Ames, to create a plan that has been approved by the private donors. Jeanette Vaughan, Community Services Director for Pella, says that they hope to start this project before Tulip Time, and they plan to remove the current trees around the end of March and beginning of April with replacements to follow soon after.
