Knoxville’s valiant effort last night came up short to the Chariton Chargers in the class three-A Boys District 70-63. The Chargers lead for most of the first half taking a four-point lead into the halftime break. The Chargers appeared to break the game open in the third, finishing on a 13-4 run to take an 11 point lead. However, Knoxville’s Trent Davis fueled an 11-4 blitz to get the Panthers back in the game. Knoxville would tie it at 61 with 1:42 left, but the Chargers would end the game on a 9-2 run. Coach Jeff Larson told KNIA/KRLS early successes did not work as the game went on. Knoxville was led by Trent Davis with 23 points including five three point shots, and Chase Higgenbotham had 16, 14 of which were in the second half. Knoxville ends its season at 6-17.
