Knoxville Hospital and Clinics is slated to undergo a $17 million renovation. CEO Kevin Kincaid says plans include a drop-in clinic, with hours from approximately 6 am to 9 pm, which will allow patients to be seen outside regular clinic hours, and not be forced to incur the cost of an emergency room trip, if the visit is not an emergency. He says another update planned is for the inpatient rooms. When the facility was built in 1980, it was not usual for family members to stay with patients. That standard has changed, so Kincaid says they would like to make the rooms more comfortable for family members that stay. He adds that the operating rooms will be expanded, and the emergency room will be updated to allow for greater privacy and security.
