Several officers from around Marion County are taking a Polar Plunge Saturday at noon in Indianola to raise money for the Special Olympics. Ten locals have created team “Up to the Challenge”, and Pella Officer Tom Kucala and Communications Specialist TJ Frank are two of the team members that have signed up and raised the qualifying $75 to participate. Kucala is a Minnesota native who says he’s always wanted to do it and it’s for a great cause. Frank has been involved with the Special Olympics in some capacity for the last four years and jumped at the opportunity when Sheriff Sandholt was looking for volunteers. The Polar Plunge has been moved to the corner of G58 and 118th in Indianola, which is just before the beach entrance to Lake Ahqaubi. To donate to their cause, click here.
