Melcher-Dallas Sweeps First Round Competition

Teaming up with Southeast Warren, the three Melcher-Dallas wrestlers who made their way to state also made some noise in night number one yesterday. Alex Mitchell at 145 won in a 4 – 3 decision over Sigourney-Keota’s Lane Boender. He’ll wrestle Bryce Paul of Alburnett today. Jacob Hoch at 152 went to overtime, but scored a fall at the horn 7 – 5 over Josh Hopkins of East Mills. Ty Schneider at 195 won 3 – 1 in a decision over Clayton Juhl of North Cedar. All wrestlers will be involved in at least two matches today, as the winner’s bracket advances to the quarter and semi-finals.
