The Pella High boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will try to finish their conference schedule with a pair of wins in Newton this evening. The Lady Dutch will be facing the Cardinals in back-to-back games; the two schools were paired together in the first round of the Class 4A regional tournament which takes place this Wednesday. Their first meeting was closer than the final score indicated; Pella led by as much as 14 in the fourth quarter, but Newton came storming back before faltering in the end. Newton’s boys were no match for the Little Dutch in their first encounter of the year, losing 74 – 49, but a lot has changed since that game. Both Pella High teams can secure second place in the conference to themselves with victories over the Cardinals.
