Greg Heartsill [1]

State Representative Greg Heartsill recently stated at a public forum in Knoxville that there was legislation underway for small townships to be in control of their own public safety warning systems. The introduction of this bill, House File 2043, was in response to a request made by Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson. Anderson said he mentioned the problem about a year ago, and this week, the bill passed out of the House Local Government Committee by a vote of 20 to nothing. Anderson says he is very appreciative of Representative Heartsill’s efforts. Heartsill says the next step is to send it to the Senate, but does not expect any opposition.
