Recently, KNIA KRLS News reported on a proposed expansion and renovation of the Knoxville Raceway, including a four-story building at the main entrance of the property, where the Skate Pit is currently. There has been concern about whether or not the Skate Pit would be eliminated altogether or relocated. Raceway General Manager and Promoter Brian Stickel says it is not the goal to eliminate the skating. He says the building is old, and not quite the look that is right anymore, but they plan to save the skating. He says the skating area could be relocated to Dyer-Hudson Hall, or might be incorporated in the new building, but skating will be provided, somewhere.
