Not having much to say after Monday’s big loss to I-35, Pleasantville girls’ basketball coach, Aaron Fichter, says he was more than pleased with how his girls played against arguably the toughest team in the Pride of Iowa Conference last night. His Trojans still fell to Central Decatur, 71 – 42, but Pleasantville did hold an eight point lead towards the end of the first quarter before a big run by the Cardinals dashed any hopes of an upset. Kennedy Core scored 17 to lead all Pleasantville players. The boys won 54 – 50 in overtime over the Cardinals, with Dylan Lauer throwing in 21 points. It’s the fifth overtime game Pleasantville has played this season, and they are 4 – 1 overall in games that go an extra four minutes. Pleasantville’s boys improve to 14 – 4 on the year while the girls drop to 4 – 15. Pleasantville has little time to rest, as they are back on the bus for a road game against Mount Ayr tonight, which you can hear live on KNIAKRLS.com with Kris Krug and Ed Bull on the call. Pregame coverage starts at 6:00 p.m.
