Working on a shutout in the eighth inning, Central pitcher Judson McKown gave up a two-out two run blast to Grinnell, who held on to win 3 – 1 on Saturday night in the Dutch’s season opener. Central had a 1 – 0 lead in the sixth thanks to a lead-off triple by Jordan Judkins, and was doubled home by Robbie Rushing. On Sunday, Central split their doubleheader with Grinnell, losing game one 12 – 8 and winning the nightcap, 13 – 6. Senior Adam Ariola became only the fourth player in school history to pound out five hits in one game, doing it in Central’s lone win. The senior went 7-for-9 on the day. The Dutch are 1 – 2 to begin the season and they’ll head to Arizona for some warmer weather and heated competition this Friday.
