Severe Weather Awareness Week continues, and Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson says if severe weather hits Marion County, his department uses trained weather spotters and technology to calculate where and when the storm will hit. He says technology is critical after dark, when it is exceptionally hard to see developing storms, and he says it is best to leave after-dark storm spotting to the professionals. Anderson says his department maintains a direct line of communication with the national weather service via internet chat and direct radio, so that he can get information out to as many officials in Marion County as quickly as possible.
