Quail

Danny Simcox is a farm bill biologist with Pheasants Forever, and he covers Marion County, with the purpose of assisting landowners in designing, developing and funding habitat improvements on private lands. He says quail populations have been in steep decline recently, but with good habitat management, that could turn around. Simcox says quail have essential habitat requirements to thrive, and they only need a very small area as they have a comfort zone of only about 70 feet. Simcox will host a quail management workshop at the Milo Community Center at 6 pm on Thursday, March 20, and he encourages any interested landowners to attend.
