Shortly after 10am yesterday, the Pella Fire Department was called to an uncontrolled burn at 2004 Hempstead, just off of T-15. Fire Fighters quickly extinguished the blaze, but Fire Chief Doug Van Gorkom says that you need to contact the proper authorities before you start burning, stay with the fire while it burns, and then let that same department know when you are done. The Pella Fire Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Department, and the Pella EMT responded to the scene.
