It’s not easy to lose seniors off of a team, especially when you’re coming off of a season where you won a state title. That’s the predicament the Pella High boys’ track and field team is in for 2014. Many of the short distance runners graduated from Coach Brent Van Hauen’s team, but he has a good chunk of younger athletes and some juniors back this season that are willing and able to fill in the holes last year’s seniors left. In addition to Henry, Murphy, Akers, and Steenhoek, Van Hauen says Jordan Pingel will be another big piece to the Little Dutch’s puzzle in their quest for a repeat at the state track meet. Pella ran their last indoor meet last Friday and will start their outdoor season at Washington on Thursday.
