Central’s baseball team is rolling, and they continued their torrid run yesterday with a home doubleheader sweep of Coe. Central won game one, 2 – 1. Central got one run in the third, lost it in the top of the sixth but got it back on some defensive miscues by the Kohawks, who committed three errors in game one. Judson McKown pitched a complete game, giving up one run on six hits to earn his third win of the season. The Dutch got off to a good start in game two, scoring two runs on a two-out single in the third off the bat of Zach Brown. Central tacked on a third run in the fourth, before the Kohawks’ relief pitcher, Jack Hoffmann came up with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh and promptly emptied the bases with a three-run double. A sacrifice fly in the eighth gave Coe a lead, but they didn’t hang onto it for long. A safety squeeze and a fielder’s choice with runners at second and third in the bottom of the eighth gave Central the lead and a 5 – 4 win, after Mack Boothe came in in the ninth to save the game. Central is now 18 – 11 overall and 10 – 8 in league play. They’ll finish their set with the Kohawks today starting at 1:00 p.m.
