Pella City Administrator Mike Nardini tells KNIA/KRLS News that during this week’s city council meeting a change order was approved for the Pella Sports Park. The amount of the change order was for $47,604 for Todd Hackett Construction. Nardini says it was necessary because the Shakopee ag lime that is being used in the infields, is considered to be a better drainage material than the average ag lime. For that reason, the change order will cover the $40,000 cost of using Shakopee on the warning tracks and foul lines, and the remaining $7,600+ will be used to add 115 tons of riprap to the pond area in order to make it as safe as possible. Fields for our Future has agreed to cover 100% of the cost.
