At Monday’s City Council meeting, the Council heard a recommendation from city staff that the Department of Veterans Affairs discontinue the Enhanced-Lease Use agreement with the Knoxville Veterans Alliance. City Manager Harold Stewart read a letter that notifies the VA that the City of Knoxville “requests the VA continue to honor its commitment to only move forward with solutions the City deems to be in the best interest of the community as a whole, and requests that the VA cease negotiating the execution of a lease with KVA.” The letter concludes with a request that “once the VA has made a decision and announcement on the new location of the Community Based Outpatient Clinic that it turn the campus over to the Governmental Services Administration for disposal.” After discussion, Council approved the letter to be sent to the VA.
