Democrat Megan Suhr, of Knoxville, hosted a campaign kick-off event Sunday in Knoxville. Suhr is challenging Republican incumbent Greg Heartsill for Iowa House District 28. Suhr tells KNIA KRLS News that fundraising for her campaign is going very well, which is an indication that local support is strong, and that many are looking to replace the incumbent. Suhr’s platform includes strengthening Iowa’s public schools, increasing access to mental health care, and promoting rural economic growth. Suhr has served as a consumer advocate for the past 6 years working on behalf of Iowa families. She feels that her experience working with all legislators assists in giving a voice to the people in the district.
