Every five years the DNR provides input on the regional permit approved by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and they want the public’s opinion on possible rule changes for projects that have an impact on Iowa waters, wetlands, and lakes. Christine Schwake, a DNR environmental specialist, says that upcoming rule changes will let applicants planning a road, trail or bridge project in one of our lakes, streams or wetlands get their Corps’ permits more quickly. The public is invited to make oral or written comments at 1 pm Tuesday, April 9th in the Wallace State Office Building located in Des Moines.
