With positioning in the Iowa Conference tournament riding heavily on everyone’s minds, the Central softball team went out and got the job done on Saturday, allowing just one run en route to sweeping Dubuque. Central won game one 4 – 0 and game two 3 – 1. Brie Haycraft fired five-and-two-thirds of shutout ball and struck out six in the first game. Trisha Smith threw six innings of four-hit ball and allowed just one run in the nightcap. The Dutch end the regular season 30 – 8 overall and 10 – 4 in league play. Coe won the conference with an 11 – 3 mark so they will host the league tournament starting this Thursday. The winner of the tournament gets an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III tournament, beginning on May 9.
