Fire Pole

Just after 11 am Yesterday, the Fire Department responded to reports of a grass fire approximately two miles northwest of Pella on eastbound Highway 163. The fire charred part of the of the median between eastbound and westbound traffic, the grass along the shoulder of the road, and continued into part of a nearby farm field where it ignited an electrical pole. No one was injured, the Pella Fire Department, the Marion County Sheriff’s Department and the Pella Ambulance responded to the scene, and the incident is still under investigation. Midamerican was called to check the condition of the possibly damaged pole.
