Sheryl Nunnikhoven, owner of Dutch Meadows in Pella, says it’s time to start putting down crabgrass preventer. She tells KNIA/KRLS that many people get confused about what crabgrass is. She says it’s an annual that, if you had it last year, it came up, went to seed and then died, and now the seeds are lying in your lawn. Nunnikhoven says that the solution is to put down a preemergent, which will not allow the new plant to come up. She concludes that most people have the most success when they use the preemergent by the 15th of April.
