Coach Brent Van Hauen of the Pella boys’ track and field team said, after it was over, that Garret Jansen was a “very happy kid” after finishing seventh in the shot put at the Drake Relays. Jansen earned himself a medal with his throw of 156-03 in the field of 24 other athletes from all different classes. Becky Visser unfortunately fouled on her attempts at the high jump and did not register a height. Track events are scheduled throughout the day today, along with the other field events for the boys and girls. Lexi Kain for PCM will run right at 8:00 a.m. in the first event of the day in the 100 meter hurdles. The Lady Dutch will run in the sprint medley relay finals, the 4 x 100, 200 and 400 meter relays and in the long jump and discus. Pella’s boys are right back out on the track, too. Jordan Pingel competes in the 800 meter run, and the sprint medley relay team will try to find the podium. PCM and Pella Christian’s girls’ teams will also be participating in the 4 x 100 meter relay. Keep checking KNIAKRLS.com for up-to-the-minute results from the Blue Oval as they become official.
