The Knoxville City Council Monday night held a public hearing and passed an amendment to the City’s current budget, ending June 30, 2014, because bond issuance for the Streetscape project came after the budget was set. Council also approved specifications for a request for proposals for services related to a citywide cleanup. The date has not been set, but must be prior to June 15, and the event must be a week long. Discussion regarding the city employees’ handbook was also heard, and concerns were addressed before the handbook was adopted with minor changes. Council also approved a request by Knoxville Fire Chief Jim Mitchell to order a 2014 Chevy Tahoe command vehicle, equipped with lights and striping. Council adjourned to closed session at approximately 7:10.
