A bill that would allow a state tax break of up to $2 million to help pay for a major expansion project at the Knoxville Raceway recently passed out of an Iowa House Ways and Means Subcommittee and it is still alive. Raceway General Manager and Promoter Brian Stickel says he has faith in our legislators and senators that they will move this bill forward. If approved, the bill would provide a rebate up to $2 million in state sales tax, and would cover up to a quarter of the cost of the expansion project. Representative Greg Heartsill tells KNIA KRLS News that there were several big budget issues in the past week that required focus, and said he hopes the raceway bill will be addressed next week.
