The first taste of a spring version of the Tulip City rivalry took place last night on the tennis courts, with Pella prevailing over Pella Christian, 7 – 4. Pella’s top two had a little trouble with Pella Christian’s in singles play, but the rest of the team made up for it with the Lady Dutch being on top for a 4 – 2 advantage going into doubles matches. Three doubles victories sealed the deal for the Lady Dutch. Full results can be found below. Pella’s girls will be in action at Indianola for an invitational on Saturday, while the Eagles are off until Monday to play Marshalltown in a make-up meet from two days ago.

The varsity players for Pella were Sami Wassenaar, Molly Kalkwarf, Bri Buzick, Lauren Kriegel, Alli Dingeman, Leah Wilborn, Anna Jaarsma, Anne Williamson, Emma Johnson, and Mackenzie Bossard.

#1 Singles : Wassenaar lost to Andrea De Bruin 3-6, 3-6.
#2 Singles : Kalkwarf lost a close first set 6-7 (7-9), before losing the second set 0-6 to Claire Van Weelden.
#3 Singles : Buzick got another win 6-4, 6-0 against Rachel Tvedt.
#4 Singles : Kriegel got a nice win 6-3, 6-3 against Andrea Carballo.
#5 Singles : Dingeman also got a nice win 6-3, 6-3 against Haylie Van Maanen.
#6 Singles : WIlborn played a nice match and won 6-1, 6-4 against Abbie Vander Molen

#1 Doubles : Wassenaar and Buzick lost a back and forth battle in a third set tiebreak 1-6, 6-0, 9-11 against De Bruin and Van Weelden.
#2 Doubles : Kalkwarf and Dingeman had it working again and won 7-5, 6-2 against A. Van Weelden and Tvedt.
#3 Doubles : Kriegel and Jaarsma battled back after losing the first set to win in a third set tiebreak 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 against Carballo and Van Maanen.
#4 Doubles : Wilborn and Williamson lost in straight sets 3-6, 3-6 to Vander Molen and Milby.
#5 Doubles : Johnson and Bossard played really well and won a quick match 6-4, 6-0 Matterly and Van Gorp.
