SUPERVISORS

The Marion County Board of Supervisors held a special session Monday morning to discuss the administration change at the Marion County Care Facility. The supervisors heard a presentation by Ben Wright, Executive Director of TENCO Industries, from Ottumwa. Wright explained TENCO’s history, and said the company recently completed a similar transition at the Residential Care Facility in Van Buren County. Wright said the best choice is to keep the facility open, but to downsize the facility to 15 beds in order to keep it financially viable. The Supervisors also heard some discussion from COC, which operates in Pella, Oskaloosa, Indianola and Des Moines. COC was also prepared to take on the administrative duties of the facility. After discussion, Mr. Wright told the Supervisors that their deadline was Monday – that TENCO needs to know Monday if their services are needed, and he advised there was no flexibility on that when asked by Mark Raymie. Craig Agan and Jim Kingery voted aye to a motion made by Agan to bring TENCO on board; Mark Raymie voted nay.
