Work has begun on the Marion County Courthouse Clock Tower project. County Maintenance Department Head Cal Stephens tells KNIA KRLS News that scaffolding is being built this week so the demolition phase of the project can begin. Demolition will include removal and replacement of the crumbling brick and mortar on the insides of the walls, and replacement of the concrete floor on the inside, which is about 20 feet by 20 feet, and four inches thick. Stephens says a clock face will be removed and a concrete pumper truck will be used to pour the new floor. Targeted completion date is July 15.
