Today is National Healthcare Decisions Day. Chaplin Phil Schrauben at Pella Regional and the Comfort House tells KNIA/KRLS News that Advanced Directives are legal documents that assist people who are near end of life, but he says the sooner you have a conversation with your loved ones, and fill out an advanced directive, the better. Chaplin Phil adds that when legal documents stating the wishes of the sick and/or dying aren’t handled ahead of illness or injury, it can create turmoil within the family. He suggests that everyone discuss this personal matter with a loved one, in order to make sure that you can pass in peace, something he says everyone wants and deserves.
