In non-conference soccer action yesterday, North Polk defeated Pella Christian’s boys, 3 – 1. The Comets took the lead in the first half on a pair of goals thanks to turnovers by the Eagles deep in their own zone. North Polk had two balls find the back of the net on penalties that got called off due to the Comets committing their own infraction on each attempt. Pella Christian’s goal came in the final ten minutes of the second half off the foot of Jacob Brouwer with an assist from Jake De Ruiter, but it was too little, too late. The Eagles drop to 1 – 4 overall and they’ll host Oskaloosa in a conference match next on Tuesday.
