One of the main topics discussed at this weeks Pella City Council meeting was street repairs. City Administrator Mike Nardini tells KNIA/KRLS News that three projects need to be addressed and the council and Public Works Department are working together to decide the best timeline to fix each troubled area. The three segments are Oskaloosa Street from Prairie to east 13th, Jefferson from Hazel to east 2nd street, and Washington from east 1st to Hazel. The total cost for the three projects totals approximately $3.5 million. Nardini adds that with each of the projects running east and west, there was concern from the city and the council that if they were working on all three simultaneously, there could be some potential issues. Nardini concludes by saying that the most pressing issue is the Oskaloosa project, and at the May 6th council meeting, they will continue discussion to decide what the second construction site will be, either Jefferson or Washington.
