Off to a great start this season, the Pella High boys’ and girls’ soccer teams will play Fairfield for their next task on the schedule in 2014 later today. The Little Dutch will be travelling for their contest with the Trojans. Both teams are undefeated coming into tonight’s contest, Pella with two victories over Oskaloosa and Winterset, and Fairfield winning over Centerville. On the girls’ side, they played their first game of the season yesterday and dominated Indianola 2 – 0. Early on, Coach Mark Howard says defense will be a major strength for his Lady Dutch, and the play of one senior will be a key to the defense thriving this year. Defense certainly was a factor for Pella on Tuesday, only allowing the Indians one shot on goal. The JV games come first at 5:30 p.m. with varsity to play at around seven.
