State Representative Greg Heartsill tells KNIA KRLS News that a bill that would allow a state tax break of up to $2 million to help pay for a major expansion project at the Knoxville Raceway passed out of the House Ways and Means Committee recently. He says the bill has bipartisan support in the legislature, and that other legislators understand the significance of the Raceway to Knoxville and the state of Iowa, but he expects easy passage of the bill out of the legislature. He says the bill was delayed by budgetary items last week, but he expects to see it on the governor’s desk this week. Heartsill adds that he would like to see the governor bring the bill to Knoxville and sign it on opening night.
