During this week’s Pella School Board meeting, teachers who have participated in AIW, or Authentic Intellectual Work, shared their experiences with the board. Superintendent Greg Ebeling says it’s a collaboration among teachers, looking at each others tasks for students, the instruction given, and the students work on the task. He adds that it’s a great way for the teachers to help each other and find ways to improve their lessons. He says several times throughout the year, teachers have an opportunity to speak before the board, and have an informal conversation about the work that they do.
