Central’s baseball team perhaps played their strongest and best doubleheader of the season yesterday in the opening rounds of the Iowa Conference tournament. The Dutch demolished Coe 12 – 0 in seven innings, then finished the day with a 6 – 1 defeat of second-seed Wartburg. Robbie Rushing set a new school record with his 23rd double, and tacked on a triple and his sixth home run of the season in a six-hit afternoon. Jordan Judkins had five hits and scored five runs at the top of the order for Central, who is now 27 – 14 on the season. They have an arduous task ahead of them today; they will play the winner of top-seeded Buena Vista and Loras in the winner’s bracket at 1:00 p.m. A win sends them to a 1:00 p.m. game on Saturday, while a loss drops them down to the loser’s bracket tomorrow to play at 10:00 a.m.
