KNIA KRLS and it’s sister stations, Raccoon Valley Radio, which serves Greene, Guthrie and Dallas Counties; and KCII in Washington, Iowa, were recognized at the Iowa Broadcast News Association’s awards banquet recently. Recognition was received in particular for public affairs news coverage and use of sound; sports coverage, severe weather news coverage and Farm and Agribusiness News. Staff also received awards for best newscast, overall excellence in anchoring, reporting and political coverage. Feature stories were also recognized for excellence.

COO Michael Suhr says “It’s great for our individual news directors, sports directors, and other individuals gathering great local information in our company to get recognized and awarded from the IBNA… We don’t do it for the awards, but it’s nice for the staff and each station to be awarded and verify we are on the right track with providing award winning local news coverage and information in the communities we serve. It also shows that the communities we serve want and need the local coverage to know what’s going on in their hometowns.”
