firework

In 2013, Knoxville had a fireworks display for the 4th of July. This year, a committee of four women has a goal to make it bigger and better. April Verwers, from Knoxville, recalls that the holiday was a big event that she looked forward to when she was a child. Krissy Link tells KNIA KRLS News that she relates fireworks to reflecting on the sacrifices that men and women have given for our country. The two say last year, the feedback from Knoxville residents was very positive from all ages. Link says it will take more than just the four on the committee to bring this event back – that the goal this year is to raise $15,000 to put on a spectacular show in Knoxville. She says last year, they raised $10,000.

The address to mail donations is P.O. Box 251, Knoxville. There are also cans set up around town, designated for donations and the ladies tell KNIA KRLS News that the AAU Girls will be collecting funds as well, very soon.
