A tightly-contested battle went Nevada’s way yesterday, as the Cubs prevailed over the Pella High girls’ soccer team, 2 – 0. The game was tied at zero at the half, before Nevada found the back of the net ten minutes into the second period. Coach Mark Howard tells KNIA/KRLS Sports they tried switching things up to try and tie the score in the late going, but it didn’t work out for his team, which led to the second goal. The Lady Dutch had seven shots on goal but failed to get one by the Cubs’ pesky goaltender. Pella’s girls fall to 8 – 3 on the year and they’ll next play at Norwalk on Tuesday.
