The Pella Police Department is busy testing and training prospective candidates for an open officer position. Pella Police Chief Robert Bokinsky says 22 candidates have been narrowed down to the final four after rounds of testing on Friday and Saturday. He says the process is rigorous, and prospective candidates have to meet certain guidelines after passing written, physical, and psychological tests. When hiring new officers, Bokinsky says the department looks for people of high character and with a solid set of ethics.
