A four-run fifth inning helped the Twin Cedars baseball team leave Pella Christian with a victory over the Eagles last night, 5 – 3. Pella Christian struck for a run in the first inning, which held up until the Sabers tied it in the fourth and took the lead in the next frame. The Eagles had their chances to come back; down by two in the sixth with the tying run at first base and one out, Sabers’ pitcher, Coy Moore, induced a fly out and got a strikeout to get out of danger. Corey Harrell once again had the big hit at the place, slapping a two-run single to center in that fifth inning to give his team a three-run lead. Eagles’ coach, Nate Johnson says the team had defensive highlights and lowlights that cost them in the end. Pella Christian is just one of the many bigger schools that Twin Cedars has on the docket for their 2014 season, something Coach Matt Miller says his guys are looking forward to. The Sabers improve to 3 – 0 on the season while Pella Christian is 0 – 1. The Eagles play Albia tonight, and the Sabers will head home to take on Southeast Warren.
