Starting the season on a much better note than last year, the Pella Christian softball team has gotten off to a quick 5 – 2 mark in 2014. The only blemishes on their record are losses to a number-one ranked Dallas Center-Grimes team, and a game they could have won in the nightcap on Friday against Newton, 13 – 8, both of which are Class 4A schools. When asked if she was happy with a 5 – 2 record at this point in the year, Coach Karen Harrill put it very simply, “No.” What Harrill did say she was pleased with so far was the level of effort her team has shown each game, and their desire to not go down without a fight. The Eagles are 1 – 2 in their conference slate so far and will continue that on Monday at home against Oskaloosa.
