Maybe the Pella High softball team should play in subpar weather the rest of the season. Whatever it was, the Lady Dutch came up with their first victory of the season on Saturday in the rain-shortened Oskaloosa tournament over Washington, 6 – 0. Elyse Sadler pitched a complete game, allowing just three hits and striking out four. Sara Tallman was 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored and a pair of stolen bases. Coach Krista DeMeulenaere tells KNIA/KRLS Sports it was also a great defensive effort by her team, as they committed no errors. The rest of the tournament on Saturday was cancelled because of the rain. The Lady Dutch will next host Grinnell on Monday to get back to league play.
