The bats were working for Pella High’s baseball team last night, as they broke a four-game slide and swept Pella Christian. The Little Dutch took advantage of a whopping eight errors by the Eagles in an 11 – 8 victory in game one. Grant Judkins earned the win on the mound in the opener. Game two saw another hot start by Pella, scoring seven runs on their way to a 13 – 3, five-inning victory in the nightcap. Southpaw Adam Carey had it working on the mound, giving up three runs on four hits and striking out ten. The errors had been a problem for Pella, and Coach Jesse Jablonski says with such a loaded schedule, those are just knots you have to work out as you go along. The Dutch are now 8 – 4 overall and get back to .500 in conference play at 3 – 3. The Eagles are 4 – 8 now and still winless within the league. Pella plays Knoxville on Friday and the Eagles take on Norwalk.
