Twin Cedars’ baseball and softball were victorious last night in a conference contest with Mormon Trail. The softball contest had a final of 6 – 4; Kadi DeGeest had the go-ahead two-run base hit in the seventh to key her team to the win. Brittney Roby had a homer and a double in a 3-for-3 night at the plate. Mackenzie Sedlock earned the “W” on the mound, allowing two earned runs. A 13-run fourth inning sparked a 17 – 0 spanking of Mormon Trail by the Sabers’ baseball squad. Otis Roby had two hits, including a home run, and drove home six, and four other Sabers had a multi-hit game. Trace Embray was the winning pitcher, as he allowed just one hit in four innings of work. Sabers’ softball is now 10 – 8, and baseball improves to 19 – 0. Twin Cedars’ girls play Grandview Park Baptist on Thursday, while the boys make their second regular season appearance at Principal Park tonight against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont. Coach Matt Miller says their approach with the Rockets will be very simple. First pitch from Principal Park is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
